Hi all,
Just a reminder that the evenings are now drawing in so we will be changing the Tuesday summer route to the winter route (5 mile). It would also be a good idea to start wearing something cars and people can see i.e. reflective top or tabard.
If you can make sure you get to club at 6.25 for an immediate start at 6.30pm.

Hi all,
At the last committee meeting it was decided that we would organise a trip to Amsterdam in October 2010 and the inforamtion here has been researched by Lisa so have a good read:-
"I got all the prices for the trip to Holland but bearing in mind we may have to add on bit because I can only get prices for marathon prices 2009, so more expensive, therefore it should be the same for 2010. the marathon next year will be the 17th October 2010
Amsterdam Marathon price £ 51.77 (includes free t shirt) wicking.
Amsterdam half Price £ 21.18
Amsterdam 7.5km £ 9.40
Stena line
Harwich to Hook Van Holland (ideal and nice crossing as its hardly no driving and relaxing)
09:00 Sailing, 16th October 2010 get into Hook 16.30pm
14.30 Sailing, 19th October 2010 get into Harwich 20.00pm
Total price for car and 4 passengers £164.00 Return
Hotel
Choice of few hotels 2, 3 & 4 start from £ 171 - £ 303 (most expensive including break) this is for 2 persons for 3 nights stay.
Got the write ups at my desk
So tank of fuel say £40 per car. There and back = £80
Ok so rough price
Marathon £51
Ferry £ 41.00
Hotel £ 151.00 (going on price of most expensive which includes breakfast)
Petrol £ 20.00
£ 263.00 (for full marathon entry)
£ 233.18 (for half marathon entry)
£ 221.40 (for 7.5km entry)
I could get the hotel really cheap but then it depends what people want to stay in, some of the read ups of the hotels cheap was not that good.) but is it just somewhere to put your head for the night, one was really cheap at £ 171.00 per room for 3 nights!!! Cannot be any worse than a travel lodge over here.
So if we went for really cheap £57 a night which is the £171 one.
£51.00 marathon
£41 (ferry)
£ 85.50 (does not include break) 3 nights per person
£ 20.00 petrol
Total for entry to marathon is £ 197.50 (2 star hotel) hotel called the HEM Hotel Amsterdam http://www.hemhotels.nl/en/index.html the best including break is http://www.hotel-hestia.nl/links.htm or without no breakfast and bit better hotel is http://www.edenamsterdamhotel.com/ which is 4 * and £ 292.62 per room for 3 nights.
We could either purchase a travel ticket to jump on the train which I am told is pence on the day of the marathon, or it's a 30 min walk. (which is ok also) "

LISA.
In brief the idea is to travel on Friday 15/10/10, run on 17/10/10 and return Monday 18/10/10. So 3 nights in Amsterdam.
There are 3 different runs..Marathon, Half Marathon and a 7.5. Whichever event you decide to do is up to you to organise and enter. You don't have to run if you don't want to of course.
Although it may seema long while until the event we want to get people committed as far as possible now so the Committee has decided that if you intend to take part in this event we would ask that you forward, to me, Sue or Mark Womack, £20pp as a non-refundable deposit by 12th July 2009.
We think it may be wise also to pay £20 a month by way of standing order into the club's account so that the basic costs of the event are covered before finally paid for. Naturally if for any reason you have to withdraw form this event thn these monies would be refundable.(Though not the £20 deposit as said before) Of course you don't have to take up this savings option.
Let me know as soon as possible if you want to take part in the club's first adventure abroad!!
SO WHAT ELSE......
The website is being updated soon so please email Lisa or me with your up to date pbs please.
On the website you will see a new section called Age Grading. This will be renamed soon to Club Standards. The new club standard caluculations are there for you to see what you need to run to get a bronze, silver, gold or platinum award.
To get, say a silver award, you need to have race times in 4 of the race distances that are of silver standard. If you do say 2 silver times and 2 bronze times you will get a bronze award.
The standards this year run from April to December but going forward will run for the calender year.
The club standards are based on your age. You can only win an award once in your age bracket. That is if you get a silver award this year, unless you fall within a different age range next year, you could only get a gold or platinum award next year and until you move into a new age bracket. Any queries let me know!
Monday nights beginners/injured/returnee runners' sessions have now begun. The aim is to run with anyone who comes along and suport them as need be. So it is not a session for established members to run their own run but to run/walk alongside newbies/returnees. The route is 3m in total so an ideal recovery jog after our long weekend runs. So if we've not seen you for a while, for whatever reason, come along to the sports centre on Mondays at 6:30.....and bring a friend if you can!!
Club champs have begun with the last of the Yarmouth 5s and the Brandon Forest 1/2m. The results and champs scores will be on the website soon.If you have saved it see my email of 25th April 2009 which set out the champs races and rules this year.
Lastly...thank goodness for that I hear you say...Thursday sessions are as follows, all 6:30 meet:
4/6/09 Gunton Cliff..off Links Rd. Hills
11/6/09 Sports Centre Speedwork
18/6/09 Sports Centre Scores Hills
25/6/09 Sports Centre Speedwork
2/7/09 Gunton Cliff Hills
9/7/09 Sports Centre Speedwork
I reckon you've done well to get this far so see you soon at training folks!!
