Race report - 25th & 26th Feb 2017

Eighteen members of Lowestoft Road Runners braved the wind to take part in local parkrun events on Saturday morning. Fourteen members were at the Lowestoft event, among a field of 171 taking place along the South beach promenade each week.
Tom Galley lead the club home in 2nd place with a time of 19:16, his 50th event which is a milestone in the parkrun world. Next in 3rd Carl Prewer 19:30, 4th Aaron Shrimpton 19:50, 7th Thomas Spalding with a new personal best time of 20:32, 8th James Pettit 14th Lee Gooderham 21:32. Leading the ladies home for the club, and third lady overall was Katy Oldman beating her previous best by 36 seconds with an impressive 21:42. Matthew Reynolds was 19th with 21:49, 29th Jonathan Meadows 22:45, 31st Gary McDonald 22:51, 50th Philip Ayers 24:11, 65th Vivien Saunders 25:28, 85th Harvey Bradley 26:29 and 86th Florence Ashdown 26:36
Club members Matt Ellis, Matthew Sutton and Philip Laurier were at the Gorleston event with times of 25:46, 35:01 and 1:00:47 respectively, Philip just returning after an injury.

David Smith ran at the Brundall event finishing 65th of 136 in 28:55.

Emma Garrard was flying the flag for the club at a busy Milton Keynes parkrun, finishing in 165th place with a time of 26:50. There were 460 participants.

On Sunday, parkrun having not been enough, Matthew Sutton ran his 6th Cambridge Boundary Run. The marathon event which circumnavigates Cambridge is approximately a third off road and was described as muddy in places. He finished in approximately 4 hours.

This weekend will see Lowestoft Road Runners back in action in the Suffolk Cross Country League with this race being held at Fritton Lake.
