WHAT IS EKIDEN RELAY?
Ekiden is a Japanese term referring to a long-distance relay running race. Ipswich Jaffa have been staging the only Ekiden held in the UK for over 20 years.
It is a 26.2 mile race run by teams of six as a relay. This consists of:
· 1 x 7.2km
· 3 x 5km
· 2 x 10km
Teams can be male, female or mixed.
Lowestoft Road Runners have SIX TEAMS confirmed for this race around the grounds of Woodbridge School. Which means we are looking for 36 PEOPLE to get involved in what is a brilliant event with an awesome team atmosphere.
Places will be assigned on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis.
Please email Tom Galley at firstname.lastname@example.org to submit your place.

Why not make the most of the (hopefully) better weather and meet up at this lovely pub for a run followed by food and drink? (Last time the river was even tempting for some!)
The route will be approximately 4 miles and pace will be dictated by the slowest runner. Anyone wanting to speed off in front please get the beers in for our return 😉
That said if we have enough people we could look at either multiple groups or a couple of distance options.
Car sharing will be requested where possible due to a lack of parking and families welcome to come along. There is a large outdoor area where children can let off steam. I look forward to seeing you there, please let me know if you have comments or questions.
Please note a pre-order of food may be required nearer the time depending on numbers and I will advise nearer the time if necessary.
Any questions, please drop Gary McDonald a message

Want to be crowned the Lowestoft Road Runners undisputed champ? Then take part in the LRR 5k Club Handicap around the Lowestoft parkrun course on the evening of Tuesday 31st July.
The race works in that individuals set off at different times, determined by their best Lowestoft parkrun time for the year, or best 5k time if parkrun not possible, with the aim of everyone finishing in a mass photo finish to declare who the winner is and who will have bragging rights for the following 12 months – and who buys the first round at the Jolly Sailors afterwards!
If you’d like to take part, please send your times to Tom Galley. Then all that is left is turn up on the evening, wait for your start time, go smash it, then enjoy a well-deserved drink at the pub afterwards!
Any questions, please drop Becky Lawler a message
Next year we are planning a trip to Amsterdam to take part in the TCS Amsterdam marathon, half marathon and 8k event. This will be in mid October, lets get as many Lowestoft Road Runners as possible running.
