We asked club members 10 questions... Here's what Men's Club Captain, Coach and Committee Member Leigh Butcher had to say:
1. WHY DO YOU RUN?
I run because I love it. I like competing, the great club atmosphere and how it clears your head after a busy day at work.
2. WHEN DID YOU START RUNNING?
I've been running for just over 3 1/2 years and joined the club to get better. I've got to say it was the best thing I've ever done for my running.
3. ARE YOU TRAINING FOR ANYTHING?
I am currently training for the Graffman (Half Ironman) in May 2017 and enjoying the Suffolk Cross Country League.
4. DO YOU PREFER TO RUN IN THE MORNING OR EVENING?
Morning – I don't really mind. If I could get out of bed I'd probably say the morning but I can't. A run after work is definitely good to clear your head.
5. ON AVERAGE HOW MANY MILES A WEEK DO YOU RUN?
It all depends on what I'm training for but normally 15-20 miles.
6. WHAT RUNNING SHOES DO YOU HAVE?
Adidas Ultra Boosts – I'm a neutral runner with is good for choice of trainers but I love the Boosts.
7. WHY DID YOU JOIN THE CLUB?
I wanted to improve my running and bumped into Tom Collier in the pool. He said to come with him to a session at LRR and the rest is history. I'm so glad I did though, as its the best thing I ever did for my running and the club atmosphere is amazing.
8. WHATS YOUR ULTIMATE RUNNING GOAL?
To break the 18min 5k barrier (I've been so close) and just run as fast as I can. I would also love to coach my son one day.
9. WHAT OTHER SPORT / EXERCISE DO YOU DO?
I also do Triathlons and Duathlons, so I bike and swim a lot also.
10. DO YOU HAVE A PRE-RACE RITUAL?
I don't think I do really. I just try to make sure I get my rating abd drinking right before a race. Not always easy but definitely something I try to think about.
