Four members of Lowestoft Road Runners took part in the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April, one of the Abbott World Majors and for many very much a bucket list event. First home was Paul Lyon in 752nd place with a new personal best time of 2:48:53. Lisa Riley, the only lady representing the club at this event, finished 10,361st in 3:49:32. Ian Chilley sustained an injury shortly before the half-way point due to a carelessly discarded water bottle but finished regardless in 21,049th in 4:31:41. Completing the team was Phillip Laurier in 35,261st with a time of 6:07:38.
The weekend wasn't all about London though with club members also taking on the East Coast Triathlon in Great Yarmouth on Saturday, consisting of a 250m pool swim, 17km cycle along the seafront and a 3km run on the promenade. Among a field of 119 Natasha Korovilas finished 24th overall, taking the prize for 3rd lady in a time of 52:46. Shaun Kay was 40th with a time of 56:10.
